Food for Life Healthy Basics is designed to support people with a tight food budget on their journey towards health. It is also well suited to busy families, college students and frequent travelers that may have to prepare meals without full kitchen amenities. It is made with accessible foods that can be purchased almost anywhere, designed to be affordable, and easy to prepare without any special equipment. If access, skill, or budget is a barrier to healthful eating, this class series is for you! The four week class includes The Power of your Plate, How Foods Fight Diabetes, Foods for a Healthy Weight, and How Foods Fight Heart Disease.
The class is taught by Susan Sayers, MD and Lana Nelson, DO. Dr. Sayers is also a practicing physician with Family Physicians of Western Colorado, a division of Primary Care Partners. Dr. Nelson is Board Certified in General Surgery and Obesity Medicine.
